Jennifer Mabus was drawn to teach yoga because of the way that the practice brought healing to her body and balance to her mind throughout her career as a professional dancer in NYC. She received her 500-hour professional yoga certification from YogaWorks in NYC in 2005, training under Jean Koerner, Tzahi Moskowitz, and other teachers in ISHTA, Hatha, and Iyengar-based traditions.
She has since been teaching yoga to varied populations, from helping individuals with special health needs to teaching young people a way center and ground. She believes that a yoga practice should aid the individual’s needs and challenges, and she teaches a range of classes from alignment-based Hatha/Vinyasa Flow to gentle and restorative practices.
Mabus is also a dance teacher, with an MFA in Dance and twenty years of experience, and yoga is a part of her teaching practice with universities, such as Sam Houston State University, and dance companies, such as Houston’s MET Dance Company.
Varied somatic practices and a lifelong study of the human body in motion greatly inform her classes, and her goal is to create space for people to come back home to their body and breath.
Jen instructs the following:
Vinyasa Mixed Levels
Experience a dynamic flow of yoga postures in which movement is sequenced with the breath. This practice moves at a more moderate pace to build heat, endurance, flexibility, strength and concentration. Sequencing is often built around sun salutations. All levels welcome.
